Introduction

Naksan Park

Naksan Park is a park that can enjoy history and culture along with Dongdaemun and Daehakro. From Daehakro, you can see the panoramic view of Seoul from Naksan Park and go to Insadong Mural Village, which is crowded with houses and murals at the top of the hill. Also, the Dongdaemun side course following the Hanyangdoseong Trail from Heunginjimun is a quiet forest path along the fortress. The road from the entrance of Hansung University allows you to walk while looking at the entire outer wall of the fortress, giving you the feeling of traveling to a long past, and you can also see the view of Seoul from the north east direction from the top.

Naksan (125m) is one of the Seoul's North Eight Mountains, corresponding to the left dragon. It was also called "Naktasan" because its terrain resembles a camel's back, and it was called "Taraksan" because there was a royal ranch in the area that supplied milk to the palace. After the 1960s, the original appearance of Naksan disappeared due to citizen apartments and densely populated houses. The Seoul Metropolitan Government established a Naksan restoration plan, and as part of this plan, a park development project was carried out and Naksan Park was opened in July 2002. Currently, Naksan Park is a resting place for citizens where they can feel the beautiful atmosphere with the harmony of Seoul Hanyangdoseong and green forests. It is also attracting attention as a place where you can see the most beautiful night view in Seoul.

 

Naksan Park Usage Guidelines

Keep the park clean.
Protect monuments, facilities, grass, and trees.
Do not camp, cook, or light fires.
Do not engage in drinking/singing/noisy behavior.
Please take your trash with you.
Do not climb or damage cultural heritage such as Hanyangdoseong.

Naksan Exhibition Hall is a facility located at the entrance of Naksan Park. It exhibits photographs and models of the origin of Naksan, historical figures, and Hanyangdoseong, providing various information to citizens visiting Naksan Park. In addition, park usage programs related to Naksan and Seoul Hanyangdoseong are operated on weekends, and anyone can use them for free.

Reservation for Park Usage Programs
Park usage programs operated in Naksan Park are conducted on the theme of Naksan, Seoul Hanyangdoseong, and surrounding modern and contemporary cultural heritage. Reservations can be made on the Seoul Park website (http://parks.seoul.go.kr) menu for program reservation/. T: 02-3783-5995~6

Hongdeok-i Field

It is a story about a woman named Hongdeok who was captured by the Qing Dynasty during the Manchu Invasion of Korea when King Injo surrendered at Samjeondo. At that time, Hongdeok, a lady-in-waiting, made kimchi every day and served it to King Hyojong, who had been captured in a foreign country. After King Hyojong returned to his homeland, he could not forget the taste of Hongdeok's kimchi, so he gave her a vegetable garden in the middle of Naksan and told her to make kimchi.

Seoul Hanyangdoseong

Seoul Hanyangdoseong is a 18.2-kilometer-long fortress that was built to protect the capital of Seoul from foreign invasions. It is one of the most iconic landmarks in Seoul and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.The Naksan section of Seoul Hanyangdoseong is a 2.1-kilometer-long stretch that runs from Heunginjimun to Hongdae. It is a popular spot for hiking and enjoying the views of Seoul.
 
Jajudongsam

Jajudongsam is a well located behind Biwoodang. It is said that it is the well where Queen Jeongsun, the wife of King Danjong, who was exiled to Yeongwol, used to dye the silk with purple water to make a living.
